Shirley L Corban

Shirley L. Corban, 87, of Massillon, passed away on September 16, 2023 at Danbury of Massillon. She was born on December 4, 1935 to the late John and Minnie (Wortman) Campton at Otsego, Ohio. She was a 1953 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. She married Richard D. Corban on April 04, 1954 and they shared almost 67 years together until his passing in 2021.

Shirley worked as a Secretary for Ruetz Insurance, The American Red Cross and Wesley United Methodist Church. She was knows as an excellent Seamstress and enjoyed crafting and making candy during the holidays. Shirley was a volunteer Massillon Community Hospital, Spring Hill Historical Home, The Massillon Women's Club, The Massillon Museum, The Wilderness Center and a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she played the handbells and sang in the choir. Shirley was known as a very patient person and a hard worker. She will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kay L. (Rob) Lindsay, Karen (Denny) Ellerbeck, Mark A. (Eunice) Corban, Vicki S. Evans and Laura L. Jones; her grandchildren Mike (Jamie) Bourquin, Chris (Kara) Bourquin, Dawn (Mark) Zurcher, Ben (Stephanie) Lindsay, Michelle (Russell) Rigsbee, Jennifer Warner, Mathew (Stephanie) Corban, Cassie Corban, Zachary Yob and Daniel (Natalie) Yob; her great-grandchildren Luke, Lily, Grayson, Alice, Lucy, Zoe, Lily, Colton, Ellie, Atlas, Hayley, Alexis, Jaime, Brooklyn, Evelyn, Jaclyn, Corban, Colton and Declan; her sister Naomi Cottrell; her brother-in-law, Russell Corban; a sister-in-law Leona Corban and a host of family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter Ruth Bennett; her sisters Marie Welker and Lucille Potts; her brothers Richard Campton, Robert Campton and James Campton; her son-in-law Tim Evans.
