Shirley J. Frederick, age 85 of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Altercare of Navarre. She was born on September 14, 1927 in Massillon and was the daughter of the late Earl and Nellie (Poorman) Witmer. For many years Shirley was active with the Girl Scouts and was an Avon representative. She had attended St. John's United Church of Christ. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her bother Jack Brannan and her sister Dorothy Ricosky. Shirley is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roy Frederick, Jr., her daughters and their husbands, Linda (Howard) Wacker, Diann (Ron) Shilling and Cindy Semper, her grandchildren, Eric Shilling, Marc (April) Shilling and Wendy Miller, step grandchildren, Brenda (Mark) Bolitho and Jenny (Don) Gaut and her great grandchildren, Christen Miller, Aaliyah Hankison, Brennan Shilling, Kody and Kyle Shilling and 7 step great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Shirley Frederick will take place on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Road NE in Massillon with Celebrant Kevin O'Brien officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. Her cremated remains will be interred at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Memorial gifts in her name are suggested to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Akron, OH 44685. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Altercare of Navarre and Crossroads Hospice for the care they gave to Shirley.
