Shirley Ann Sibila, passed away peacefully, on May 10, 2023, at Compassionate Care Center. Shirley was born on February 23, 1928, to Jesse and Elma Girt (Fichter) in Massillon.
Shirley graduated from Navarre High School in 1946 and began working at Timken’s as a secretary for 3 years.
In 1948, she met Donald Sibila and they married in 1949 at St. Clement’s Church.
Shirley loved her family, music, art and travelling. She played the piano and taught it for many years.
Before departure, she lost her husband of 64 years, son Dennis, grandson Drew Grosswiler. Also, her parents and brothers Gerald Girt and Stephen Girt.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Johnson; her children Marc (Tina) Sibila, Kathleen (Jim) Singer, Bruce Sibila, Ann Marie Sibila, Scott (Barb) Sibila, Teresa (Steve) Grosswiler, daughter-in-law Linda; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 15th from 6-8 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Massillon. Burial will follow at St. Joe’s Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Aultman hospital, the Laurel’s and Compassionate Care Center for taking care of Shirley these last few months; kindness speaks volumes.
