Selma Doering of Massillon passed away Wednesday at the Massillon Hospital after a period of declining health. She was born in Wattenscheid, Germany to Wilhelm and Auguste Golz. She graduated from Kaufmann Business School in Germany and was employed as an airport controller, during World War II, in Holland. She came to Massillon in 1950 and worked initially at Modern Paint and Decorating Co. and, later, she was General Manager at Doering Enterprises. She was a life-long member of the New Apostolic Church where she had sung in the choir and prepared the altar flowers for many years. She enjoyed gardening and being at her large historic home. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S.A. and Europe, and had a large collection of bells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Doering, in April, 1972; her brother, Karl; her sister, Gustel; and daughter-in-law, Yvonne Doering. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul K. and Maritta Doering of Massillon; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Alfred Enders of Gummersbach, Germany; and five grandchildren, Paul W., Benjamin, Julie, Eric and Victoria.
