Scott Michael Simler

Scott M. Simler, 42, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 28, 2024 in Massillon, Ohio. Scott was born on September 22, 1981 in Massillon, Ohio to John Simler and Kathy Wiskofske.

Scott was a kind and gentle soul. He made lasting impressions on everyone he knew. Scott was a prolific artist, he was well known in the local art community with multiple print publications and several art exhibits. Scott loved to be involved within the community and with his family. He enjoyed being around people, especially with his nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly. He was passionate about Cleveland sports and Ohio State, but his heart was always in Massillon (Class of 2001). He never missed a Tiger game, even if he couldn't be there in person. Scott had a great sense of humor. He was a great person to be around, always caring for the people in his life. Despite his setbacks, Scott had a positive outlook on life and always had a smile on his face. He was a light to everyone around him, and will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leota and Tony Ferrich; maternal grandpa, Fred Belcher; and uncle, David Robertson.

Left to cherish his memory, are his loving parents, Kathy (Gary) Wiskofske and John (Patrick) Simler; grandma, Betty Belcher; siblings, Mark (Danielle) Simler, Amy (Matt) Webster, Adam (Elena) Wiskofske and Jeni (John) Middendorf; nieces and nephews, Rowen, Avery, Remi, Brynn, Camryn, Maxine, Janie, Benjamin, Elsie, and Emerson; uncle, Brad (Donielle) Belcher; aunts, Carol (Troy) Sargent, Joan Spencer, Vicky (Frank) Sauser, and Nancy (Norris) Hopson; along with many cousins, family and friends. Scott will also be greatly missed by his family dog Lottie.

Family and friends may gather from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Saturday, May 4, 2024. At 4:00pm, there will be an opportunity for family and friends to share memories of Scott.
