Scott L. Swonger ascended to his home in glory when he died suddenly from a heart attack in his Massillon home at 38 years of age on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. Scott is the son of the late Edward L. Swonger, Sr. and survived by his mother, Janet D. Swonger (nee Plottner). Born on December 6, 1981 in Canton, Ohio and resident of Massillon. Scott graduated Tuslaw High School and studied welding at R.G. Drage Career Center. Scott was previously employed at Canton Drop Forge, Flex Technologies and A.R.E. Accessories. He was a student at Hwang's Martial Arts School and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Scott had a kind spirit full of smiles, laughter and hugs. He enjoyed unicycling, motocross, juggling, poi flow art, Taekwondo and was a NIKE enthusiast. He was also a car audio enthusiast and enjoyed listening to progressive music loudly. Scott was noted for his long hair and a wearer of hats, particularly enjoying the Top Hat. Scott's favorite colors were white and red. He enjoyed walking. Scott especially loved his church family at Calvary Baptist Church in Massillon where he attended faithfully. Survivors include mother, Janet D. Swonger (nee Plottner); brother, Edward L. Swonger, Jr.; sisters: Martha M. (Wesley) Fritts, Leona E. (Daniel) Creger, and Victoria L. Heitger. Three nephews and three neices: Alex, Hannah and Nick Fritts; Luke Heitger; Danielle and Lindsay Creger. Aunts: Jane M. Brown, Florence M. Walsh, Leona I. Hudy and Diane Plottner; Uncle, Vernon Plottner. Also survived by many cousins. Preceded in death by his father, Edward L. Swonger, Sr. and eight aunts and uncles: Dorothy B. Singer, Willard L. Swonger, Mary E. Jones, Arlene M. Crow, Vearl E. Swonger, Lois R. McElhaney, Clara Jean Troyer, and Shirley D. Lambert. A celebration of Scott's life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Tim Mishler with private committal following at Brookfield Cemetery, Massillon, Ohio on June 1, 2020. Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
