Scott R. Graber was born August 24, 1954 to James R. Graber and Mary Ann Ortiz Graber Heidmeyer. He passed away at his residence. He graduated from Washington High School in 1972 and played three years for the Massillon Tigers, lettering in his junior and senior seasons and was a part of the 1971 State Championship team. He later attended Ohio Wesleyan University where he also played football. He was employed at Republic Steel, Detroit Diesel, SARTA, and as an over the road truck driver. Scott lived all of his life in Massillon.
Scott, a devoted husband of 45 years, was preceded in death by both of his parents and his loving wife Anna Gottler Graber. He is survived by sons Ben and Nick, grandson Tenyson of Cleveland, brothers Keith Graber of Indianapolis, Tim (Denise) Graber of Massillon, sisters Heidi (Norm) Hall and Amy Tharpe of Massillon, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob Commings, the former legendary head coach of the Massillon Tigers once said of Scott, "If he were a little bigger he could hunt bear with a switch." Scott was a fierce advocate of many issues in and around Massillon. He very selflessly, tried to use his voice to improve conditions in his neighborhood and uncover injustices.
Paquelet Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. There will be a private family service at a later date.
