Sarah Jeanne May

Sarah Jeanne May from Massillon, Ohio passed away on February 16th, 2025, at the age of 86. She attended Washington High School, Massillon, Ohio. Jeanne (as she preferred) went on to Kent State University and the University of Akron, working her way from a hospital aide to a Licensed Practical Nurse, then becoming a Registered Nurse.

She worked in the medical field since 1956, touching and helping lives across a number of hospitals and institutions, spending over 30 years caring for others at Doctors Hospital, Massillon, OH (10 years), Multi County Juvenile Attention Center, Canton, OH (10 years), and retiring from Edwin Shaw Hospital, Akron, OH after 10 years.

Jeanne was an avid reader, often knocking out a book a day. Her passion for antiques and vintage clothing defined her and everyone loved that about Jeanne. In retirement she spent endless hours going to auctions, flea markets, and various sales, buying and selling her treasures. She had a kind and giving heart that could be felt just by meeting her. She loved to laugh, it was contagious and will be missed by her family and friends.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Roland and Marie Giltz and son David May. She is survived by her sons Gregory (Teri) Haynes, James (Carrie) May, granddaughters Madeline May and Abigale May, and her beloved grandson and caregiver Andrew Haynes.

Per her request, cremation has taken place and the immediate family will have a celebration of life at a date to be determined.
