Sandra ‘Sandy’ McCauley Detweiler, aged 73, passed away Sunday morning at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Sandra was born in Massillon on December 25, 1937 to John and Zella (Shilling) McCauley. She and her husband, were residents of Massillon and Jackson Township for the past 20 years. Previously, they resided in South Russell for 27 years. Sandra was a 1955 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. Upon graduation, she worked for First Savings and Loan in Massillon. In 1960 she accepted a position in the mortgage loan department of Central National Bank in Cleveland. She then worked as a secretary for the Barry Owens CPA firm in Chagrin Falls until retirement in 1990. Sandra was very active in various organizations in the Chagrin Valley area. Of recent she was a member of the Massillon Woman’s Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gideons International/Massillon Camp. She was a member of the Chapel in North Canton. Sandra is survived by her husband, Myron ‘Mike’ Detweiler, with whom she would have celebrated 51 years of marriage September 18; sons and daughters-in-law Stephen (Belinda) of Hartville and Douglas (Lisa) of Twinsburg; four loving grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Halle, and Alec; sisters Norma Gallagher of Orange City, FL and JoAnn McGrady of Cincinnati; brother and sister-in-law William ‘Bill’ (Mary Lou) McCauley of Tecumseh, MI; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joann (Detweiler) and Sonny Dominick of Massillon. She was blessed with nine wonderful nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received this evening, Tuesday, August 23 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at The Chapel in North Canton, 713 Whittier Ave NW, North Canton 44720 (330-494-3419). A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Sandra to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1494, Massillon, Ohio 44648 or a charity of your choice
