Samuel C. "Sam" Williams, 90 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Sam was born in Huntington, WV on January 9, 1925 the son of the late Samuel and Luella (Whitling) Williams. Sam was a 1942 Washington High School graduate and a WWII Army/Air Force United States veteran. He retired from Hercules Motor in Canton. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church. As a member of St. Joseph's he served as a church greeter, bingo worker, and volunteered at the weekly soup kitchen. Sam took great pride in caring for his yard and gardens. He was an avid sports fan and never missed attending his grandchildren's sporting activities. Sam was a dedicated Massillon Tiger football fan, having been a longtime season ticket holder and Booster Club member. He was also a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Alma "Pete" (Romer) Williams in 2011. He is survived by his children Jan (John) Keating of Minerva, Wende (Pat) Nodo of Jackson Twp., and Robyn (Don) Crawford of Nova, OH; his grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Keating, Erin (Brent) Walters, Michael (fiancée' Laura Chini) Nodo, Heather Keating, and Lindsey Nodo; his great grandchildren, Megan, Autumn, Brennan, and Lauren Keating, and Blake Walters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 9-9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph's Soup Kitchen - Massillon.
