Samuel Ronald Blogna, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 18, 1941, in Massillon, Ohio to the late Samuel J. and Helen (Porrini) Blogna.
Ron was a 1959 graduate of Central Catholic. He worked as a foreman for the former Ekco Housewares where he retired with 40 years of service.
He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard as a food service specialist and where his love for cooking began.
Ron married the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Schandel on December 14, 1963, and recently they celebrated 59 years together.
Ron was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon and a member of ‘Men Who Cook’ for Catholic charities. He was also an avid golfer, enjoying time with the guys on the golf course which almost always ended with drinks at the Irish Exchange.
Ron was an active member of the K of C, the Eagles#190, the Massillon VFW, and the Ulster Project, a program for exchange students from Ireland, which Ron was really devoted too.
His love for Ireland was not only with the Ulster Project but was a place he frequented 8 times in his lifetime with his family, and especially his wife, traveling there together 5 of those times.
Above all, Ron was a dedicated husband, father, and papa. He was a true family man, coaching his kids at a young age on their sports team, excelling at his self-taught hobby of stained glass and more recently enjoying the love of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Blogna; children Theresa (Daryl) Stevenson, Brian (Ellie) Blogna Deborah (Joe) Pileggi, and Nicholas (Chrissy) Blogna; grandchild, Kayla (Jake) Miller, Milo Pileggi, J.D. Jones, Clare Stevenson, Sophia Stevenson, Noah Stevenson, DJ Nivens, Alissa (David) Mynchenberg, Megan (Ryan) Mason, Loren Blogna, Emma Blogna, and Samuel R. Blogna; great-grandchildren Jackson Miller, Juliet Miller and Emmett Rutter; siblings Kathy (Frank) Minocchi, Howard (Fran) Blogna, James (June) Blogna; and brothers-in-law, Phillip (Linda) Schandel and Maurice (Elaine) Schandel.
