Samuel Reeves Nodo, 94, of Massillon, passed away, following a brief illness, on October 2, 2023 at Aultman Hospital.
He was born on July 13, 1929 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Lentz) Nodo of Massillon, OH.
A graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1947, he was a veteran of United States Army, serving in the Korean War and retired from Quickdraft Corporation. Sam served as a Tuscarawas Twp. Trustee during the 1970's and 1980's. He was instrumental in getting the Veterans Memorial placed at Brookfield Cemetery. Sam was a life member of the VFW, Massillon Post 3124. He was a little league coach and played softball. He volunteered with The Tuslaw Booster Club and was a past president of the booster club, he also hauled equipment and filmed football games. He served as a Scout Master. He enjoyed traveling, camping and boating with his family and friends. Sam was dedicated to his family and his community.
Sam is survived by his loving children , Cindy (Sam) Manfull, Lorri (Scott) Widder, and Jody (Vicki) Nodo; grandchildren, Chad Nodo, Amanda (John) Doubledee, J.D. (Amy) Wolfe, Kristen (Joe) Zwick, Nick (Crickett) Widder, Tony (Savannah) Widder, and Kellie (Kevin) Hochstetler; seven great-grandchildren; brother-In-Law, Dave Kemper ; and his dog Buckett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lura (Hart) Nodo; son, Sam A. Nodo; siblings, Carl Nodo, Susie Robinson, Margie Kemper, and Jo Ann Kutz; and companion, Millie Millar.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10am-11am with a funeral service to begin at 11am at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon, Ohio, with Rev. Gary Smith, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brookfield Cemetery .
Memorials are suggested to the Boy Scouts of America, Buckeye Council or to The Tuslaw Booster Club.
