Saundra Denise Wood, passed away peacefully March 10, 2007 in Atlanta, GA from a brief illness. Denise was born on June 30, 1951 in Massillon, OH to parents, Alex and Frances (Tate) Wood and later moved to Georgia in 1992. She was a 1969 Washington High School graduate and a member of the Massillon Tiger Swing Band and concert band where she played baritone. She attended Kent State University where she studied Special Education. She enjoyed roller skating and various music. Denise found her specialty of working with and helping people to be her greatest strength. She assisted in the Massillon Public System as a Remedial Reading Teacher for grammar school ages. She was the Director of Housing for the Massillon Urban League and it is from this experience she built her thirty year career with the Federal Government as a Housing Specialist. Denise branched out on her own and became a consultant to the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Education where she assisted many municipalities, families and individuals in there time of need. She loved her relationship with the Lord and all the things He provided in this world, animals, birds, wildlife, nature and mankind. Denise is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a loving sister, Deborah Wood; brothers, Bruce, Alex and nephew Alex Wood III. She also leaves a host of respectful loving friends and family. Memorial services celebrating Denise’s life will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 3:00 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Walter J. Arrington and Rev. Steven Moore officiating.
