Ruth E. Bowers

Ruth E. Bowers, 97 of Massillon, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at home surrounded by those who loved her. She was born on May 5, 1919 in Dellroy, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Sylvia McCarty. She was the valedictorian of her high school class and went on to become a registered nurse. She retired from U.S. Steel. Ruth was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Grant A. Bowers, her daughter Nancy Blocher, her sisters, Helen Hoffe, Bessie Wess and Ada Buxton and her brothers, Carl and Charles McCarty. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Anita Bowers of the home, her grandchildren, Jennifer Coleman, Denise Rambo, Ron Oana, Jerry (Emma) Terwilliger and Jim (Krystal) Terwilliger, her great grandchildren, Alyssa, Lauren, Olivia, Gage, Blythe, Philip, Wessley, Aaron, Kadance and Blayne. Also surviving are her brother Ernest McCarty, her sisters Mae Gaines and Lucille Albaugh and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 10-11 a.m. Those who wish may make a memorial in Ruth E.
