Russell L. Baker, 86, of Massillon, passed away on June 8, 2023. He was born on December 17, 1936, in Massillon, to the late Lawrence and Mary (Hose) Baker.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Russ worked as an architectural draftsman where he helped facilitate building designs such as Massillon High School and a bridge located at McKinley Park in Canton. His children remember fondly of Russ showing them projects around the county that he helped create.
In his spare time, Russ enjoyed camping, fishing and was an avid golfer and bowler.
He was also a former resident of Englewood, Florida for over nine years, where he enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine.
Russ is survived by his wife, Margaret Baker; children Deborah (Jeffrey) Steed, Mike (Brenda) Baker, Robert (Andrea) Baker, Jodie (Merle) Pettry; stepdaughters Lisa (Rusty) Hopper and Renee (Joey) Amato; grandchildren Rachel Steed, Matthew (Amanda) Steed, Monica Stone, Genevieve Steed, Taylor Baker, Kori Baker, Clay Baker, Charles Geibel, Brandon Geibel, Kyle Marchant, Mia Amato, Samantha Hopper, Nicole Hopper, Malachi Pettry and Kenny Pettry.
In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence Baker and sister Bonnie Plavka.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 21st from 10-11a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. and burial will take place at Brookfield Cemetery.
