Russell F. Parr, Sr., 80 of Massillon, passed away Monday afternoon at Meadow Wind Health Care Center. He was born on May 3, 1926 in Massillon to the late Edward and Alice (Collins) Parr. He was a WWII United States Army Veteran stationed in the Philippines and Japan earning the Atlantic Pacific Ribbon , 4 bronze stars and 2 silver stars. He retired from Eaton Manufacturing as a wire drawer. Russell enjoyed working with wood and hunting. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughters Juanita Reed and Loretta Myers, brothers Edward and Norman Parr. Russell is survived by his wife, Dorothy L (York) Parr, with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage on June 5, 2006; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Daniel Fox of Ocala, FL, sons and daughters-in-law, Russell F. and Bonita Parr, Jr. of Bolivar, Ronald and Virginia Parr of Piedmont, Alvin Parr of Oweningsville, KY; brothers Gerald and Lester; sisters, Mildred, Diane, Wanda, Jeanette and Bonnie; son-in-law, Edward Myers of Yulee, FL; 19 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Funeral services celebrating Russell's life will be held Thursday at 12:00 PM at the Arnold - Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Timothy K. Cron officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Interment will follow the services at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
