Roy H. Ries, age 66 of Carrollton, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 17, 2007 at his home. He was born in Massillon on June 5, 1941 and was the son of the late Walter & Irene (Shipman) Ries. He had been employed at Central States Can where he was a setup man. He also assisted in establishment of Affilliated Hospital Products in Carrollton and served as production manager. He owned and operated Cedar Outdoor Furniture until 1995. He was a member of Carrollton Vet’s Club. Along with his wife Linda, he was co-founder of Carroll-Stark-Tusc Chapter of the Compassionate Friends, a support group for bereaved parents. He was a member of “The Round Table”. He was also a member of NARI. Roy liked to hunt and fish and had a cabin at Cook's Forest in Pennsylvania. He liked to go to auctions and flea markets and was a dealer at Roger's Flea Market. He built houses, garages did remodeling. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold 'em. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son James Edward Ries, his sister Relda, and 9 brothers, Thomas, Jack, James, Raymond, Richard, Donald, Charles, David & Robert. He is survived by his wife, Linda J. (Dietz) Ries of the home, his daughter Christine (Fred Romick) Ries and his son Daniel R. (Brenda) Ries, his grandchildren, Lauren & Max Romick and 4 stepgrandchildren, 6 Sisters, Faye Shearhart, Dorothy Taylor, Thelma McGuire, Delores Gainey, Katherine Stillman & Candace Meyer, 2 brothers William (Bette) Ries & Samuel Ries, his sisters in law Lillian E. Ries & Marilyn Ries and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Stadler officiating. Burial will follow in Brookfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 PM and on Friday one hour before the service.
