Roy Guy Mccarty

Roy Guy McCarty, 84, of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. Roy was born on August 26, 1929 in Byesville, Ohio the son of the late Nearess and Alma (Bond) McCarty. Roy worked for Republic Steel retiring after 35 years of service. He was an avid golfer and horseshoe player. Roy was a member of the Massillon Baptist Temple. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Lloyd McCarty, his brothers, Charles and Glenn McCarty and his sister, Ruth Yarnell. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane (Watson) McCarty whom he married on July 15, 1950; his children and their spouses, Bob & Janet McCarty, Wayne & Tonya McCarty, and Dennis & Rhoda McCarty; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Roy's life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Massillon Baptist Temple. Rev. Cecil Thayer will be Officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home and on Saturday from 1-2 P.M. before the service at the church.
