Roy E Estep, 94, a long-time resident of Jackson Township, passed away August 13, 2022 at Canton Regency Assisted Living Center. Born December 20, 1927 in Canton, he was the son of Harry and Virginia (Dunbar) Estep. He graduated from the former Lincoln High School in 1945 and was a 1949 graduate of Mount Union College (now University of Mount Union). At Mount, he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and received a bachelors' degree in music. An educator over several decades, he was involved in instrumental music in the Carrollton Exempted Village and Danbury Local School districts. He spent the largest part of his career in the Perry Local School District, teaching at Perry High School, Edison Junior High School and Pfeiffer Intermediate School. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Perry Township, where he served as choir director for nearly 50 years. He was also a volunteer at The Wilderness Center in Sugar Creek Township and directed the Clinton Community Band. His hobbies included photography and golf. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen M Estep, with whom he was married 71 years. Survivors include two sons, Mark Estep (Patricia) of Pflugerville TX and Scott (Catherine) of Canton GA; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Massillon with Pastor Tina Siroki officiating. Internment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
