Rose Madeline Vukelic of Massillon, Ohio passed away at the age of 95 years on May 19, 2009. Mrs. Vukelic was born and spent her entire life in Massillon residing the past 15 years with her daughter Patricia Bucci and her husband Philip. Rose was a homemaker most of her life, and also worked domestically in her early years. Rose was a great story teller. She loved to tell stories to her children and grandchildren of her experiences as a young woman working for famous people. She was an avid Cleveland Indian and Wheel of Fortune fan, and cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is the daughter of the late Sandor (Alexander) and Elizabeth Reder Boda, both of whom were immigrants from Hungary. Rose is one of seven Boda children. Her Father died in the pandemic that hit Massillon in 1918 when Rose was 5 years old. Elizabeth remarried Francis Erdely and Rose was raised by her step father. She had four more Erdely siblings Rose was preceded in death by Terez and Erzebet Boda in Hungary. Also her brothers Joseph and Stephen Boda and their spouses Virginia Gabele, Irma Elza, Dorothy Martinez and and infant brother Francis Erdely and Frank Erdely and his spouse Eleanor (Bobbi) Wagner, sisters Mary Emilienburg Sharrits spouse Frederick Emilienburg and George Sharrits, Elizabeth Boda McClelland her spouse Charles McClelland and brother in law Moise Domingue. . Rose was married to George Vukelic of Massillon in November of 1939 until his early death at the age of 49 in October of 1962. They had three children. Joseph passed away in 1994. Surviving is daughter, Patricia (Philip) Bucci of Massillon, Ohio and son Robert Vukelic of Canton, Ohio. Also survived by grandchildren Jeffrey (Diane) Kiko of Kent, Ohio, Lisa Kiko (Dr. Abbas) Sadeghian of North Canton, Ohio, Jennifer Vukelic Galaskewicz (Robin) of Canton, Ohio, and her great-grandchildren who gave so much joy to her, Xavier DiSabato, Emma Rose Kiko and Benjamin Kiko, and Ana Hope and Hannah Sadeghian. Step grandchildren Phil (Molly) Bucci of Africa and Christina Bucci of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Step great grandchildren Miles and Graham Bucci. Her loving sisters Ann Erdely Shetler (Donald) of Navarre, Ohio and Louise Erdely Domingue of Canton, Ohio. Nieces and nephews, Jean Shetler Schwartz (Dr. Joel), Greg Shetler (Barb) and their children, Ryan and Laura Schwartz and Sara Shetler who loved their Great Aunt and showed it many times over. Nephews Gary (Darlene) Boda and Joseph (Kathy) Boda; Timothy (Kathy) Erdely; and other nephew and nieces to many to list. Also special “best friend” and neighbor, Ann Markanthony and her daughter and son in law Donna and Bill Briney. Special doctor, Doctor Alan Rudick and his loving staff. Dr. Rudick cared for Rose for over 15 years with caring hands and a loving heart .Rose had many wonderful loving friends and family who went before her and now she is reunited with them along with her loving son Joseph and husband George. Rose was a life member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Massillon having been baptized in 1914. Calling hours are 6 to 8 PM on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Massillon. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Massillon, Ohio.
