Ronald L. Young

Ronald L. Young, 71, of N. Lawrence, OH passed away Friday evening at Mercy Medical Center, Canton. He was born in N. Lawrence July 4, 1937 the son of the late Donald and Edna (Barkman) Young. Ron was a retired steel worker with Republic Steel retiring in 1996. He was a member of The Massillon Moose Lodge # 481, the Son’s & Daughter’s of Herman, and the N.R.A. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, traveling, flying, and skydiving. In younger years Ron was an excellent basketball player and once played against the Harlem Globe Trotters. He was a lifelong member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Massillon. Ron is survived by daughters Robin (Richard) Hostetler-Slagle of Leeper, PA, and Debbie Svab; grandchildren Jason Hostetler, Chad Hostetler, Jessica Schultz, Craig Semelberger, Steven Svab; long time companion Bonnie McGraner. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Gardner) Young, sister Carolyn Young, and his parents. Calling hours will be Monday from 6-8 P.M. at Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home 1100 Wales Rd N.E. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Central Presbyterian Church where additional visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until time of service. Rev. Larry Lalama will officiate. Burial will follow in Dalton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
