Ronald E. Mang, age 74 of Massillon, passed away Friday evening October 28, 2011 at Bethany Nursing Home. He was born October 3, 1937 in Massillon to the late Harold C. & Lena (Meidlinger) Mang. A life resident of Massillon and a 1955 graduate of Washington High School. Ron attended Miami University before beginning a career in purchasing. He was employed for four years at Republic Steel in Massillon and then 26 years at Bison Corporation in Canton. For ten years he was in the Ohio National Guard. Ron served on the Massillon City Council since the early '70's, as 1st Ward Councilman, Councilman at large, and President of Council. His civic activities included member and past president of the former Massillon Jaycees, member and president of the Massillon School Board and a tireless worker at the soup kitchen at the Massillon K of C. Ron belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a member and trustee of the Massillon K of C #553 and Bishop Massillon Assembly 4th Degree. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold John Mang and a sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Judy (Beatty) & Roger Reese. Ron is survived by his wife Peggy (Beatty) Mang with whom he shared 52 years of marriage on June 6 , 2011; two children, son, John M. and his wife Rae Ann Mang and their son Jack all of Kobe, Japan, daughter, Diane L Mang of North Canton; brother and his wife, Robert & Lois Mang of Punta Gorda, FL; sister and her husband, Annette and Ken Darby of Yorba Linda, CA and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon, his pastor Fr. Raymond Paul will officiate. His final resting place will be St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to either Massillon K of C Building Fund, St. Joseph Church Memorial Fund or St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph Church.
