Ronald C. Weygandt, age 66 of Massillon, died on Monday, August 23, 2010 at Rose Lane Health Care Center. He was born on June 14, 1944 in Massillon and was the son of the late David and Emma (Ickes) Weygandt. He graduated from Pinconning High School in Pinconning, MI. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Viet Nam with the 101st Airborne. He then went on to earn his degree in television and broadcasting at Delta College in Midland, MI. Ron was a former member of the Clinton Lodge #47 F.& A.M. where he was a Past Master. Ron was a professional drummer, and played with Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels and the Bay City Rollers. He played with his brother Gary with local country bands. He is survived by his brothers, Gene D. (Rita) Weygandt of Massillon, R. Gary Weygandt of Massillon, his cousin Dave Ickes of Massillon, special friends, Randy and Randy, Jr. and Gail Cole of Akron and numerous nieces and nephews. A service with will take place on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Leslie Peine officiating. Burial will follow at Newman Cemetery with full military honors.
