Robert Paul Burkett Sr., aged 83 passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 12, 2011. He was born on October 26, 1927 in Massillon to the late Floyd Burkett and Maude (Bowen) Burkett. He graduated from Washington High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He married Phyllis Williams on March 23, 1963 and she survives him. Robert was employed with The Timken Company for 37 ½ years, before retiring in 1985. He was an avid bowler, loved to travel and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. He was known as an all around great husband and father. He was a lifetime member of Moose Lodge #481, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #190 and the Sons of Herman. In addition to his wife he is survived by 5 children, Cherie(Tom) Burkett, Robert P. Burkett Jr., Michelle (Charles) Moore, Dennis (Renee) Stitt, and Greg (Jana) Stitt. 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren, and 4 Step Great Grandchildren, along with 2 special nieces Linda (Dave) Ricker, Susan (Dick) Self and one special nephew Frank (Sandy) Grosse. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home, Chaplain Bill Eshelman, officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The Moose will be holding a brief service before the visitation. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Donations can be made in Robert's memory to the American Cancer Society 525 N. Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406.
