Robert P. Riese

Robert P. Riese, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Bob, Big Grandpa. On the morning of May 4, 2013, Robert passed away at home in Massillon, Ohio. He had just turned 83 years old. Robert Riese was born in Massillon, Ohio in March of 1930. He was the youngest child of 10 siblings. He had 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Robert often spoke of times growing up in Massillon, ice skating at the reservoir, Massillon Tiger football games and playing kick the can. Robert joined the U.S. Army where he met his wife with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. They both moved back to the states and had a daughter in 1954. Robert served his country for 30 years and retired a Master Sergeant. They then moved back to Robert's home town of Massillon. In 1981, Robert welcomed his first grandson and then welcomed his first granddaughter in 1986. He also has 3 great grandchildren that he welcomed into the worls in 2002, 2004 and 2011. During his retirement and throughout his whole life, he enjoyed bowling, playing cards, the Fourth of July and Christmas. He enjoyed taking drives to Amish country with his wife and spending time with his family. He enjoyed going to Little League games, staying up to date on current events and most of all, finding a bargain. Robert will be deeply missed. He enriched everyone's life with his wisdom, acts of generosity and guidance. He was, and always will be the pillar of our family and in our hearts. He is survived by his loving wife, Hilde Riese, his daughter Hilda Riese, his grandchildren Dustin Rampi and Darcy Soeters, his great grandchildren, Dominic Rampi, Eliana Rampi and Stormer Soeters, his sister Florence Malcomb and several nieces and nephews.
