Robert M. May

Robert M. May, 74, of Massillon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Massillon on February 10, 1948 the son of the late Emmett and Mary (Bartko) May. He was a 1967 graduate of Washington High School. Following high school he married the love of his life, Diana whom he was married to for 47 years prior to her passing. In 1968 he joined the US Army. He retired from Republic Steel after 47 years of service. He then worked for Ohio Packaging and retired again after 10 years. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time at the casinos. He was a jokester and had a great sense of humor. You could never be around Bob without laughing or smiling. He was an extremely hardworking and energetic man. Most of all he loved his daughters and grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Diana; grandchildren, Tres and Aaron Peterson; and numerous brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Cathy May, Christie (Jamie) Slutz and Bobbi Jo Alexander; grandchildren Ashley May, Payton Alexander, Diana Alexander, Maggie Alexander, Addison Alexander, Brandon Slutz, Jared Slutz, and Mallory Slutz; Great-grandchildren, Jace Peterson, Jaxton Peterson, and Jayla Peterson; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11 am at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Massillon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm and on Wednesday from 10 - 11 am before the service.
