Robert Lee “Bob” Shilling, Sr., age 71 of Massillon, passed away at his residence following a lengthy illness. Bob was born in Massillon on November 18, 1933 to Sam and Effie (McFarren) Shilling and lived in Massillon his entire life. He is a 1952 Washington High School Graduate. Bob retired from Republic Steel in 1984 following 34 years of service as a steel worker in the Met Lab. He enjoyed camping, skiing, and collecting music boxes and antiques. Bob was a member of the Sons of Herman and a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts for over 15 years. He was of the Methodist Faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a Brother, George Shilling. He is survived by His wife with whom he celebrated 52 years of Marriage on December 24, 2004, Jean (Horton) Shilling. Daughter and Son-in-law; Cindy (Chip) Waikem of Lake Cable Sons and Daughters-in-law; Robert (Sonya) Shilling, Jr of Canton Don (Vicky) Shilling of Canton Brothers; Dean and David Shilling both of Massillon Grandchildren; Robert, III (Sonja), Josh (Kattie)& Brittany Shilling of Canton George, II & Chris Waikem of Lake Cable Tracy Poland of Canton South Great Grandchildren Luka Shilling and Kyle Poland Several nieces and nephews. His faithful dogs, Bits and Sabre Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with Dr. Roger Alber, officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Brookfield Cemetery.
