Robert J. Heavilin, age 85 of Dalton, passed away at his residence Wednesday evening. He was born August 11, 1923 in Bowerstown, Ohio to Robert Park & Winifred (Barger) Heavilin. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. He lived most of his life in the area and retired in 1981 after 34 years as a supervisor from the Timken Company. Bob raised and showed Pugs and Bullmastiffs. His hobbies include John Deere Tractors and woodworking. The light of his life was his six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Marie (McInnes) Heavilin (1995); grandson, Christopher Seifert (2006); granddaughter, Renee Heavilin (1972); three brothers, Eugene, Vance and Dee Heavilin and a sister, Phyllis Wallace. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. & Fran Heavilin of Massillon; daughters and son-in-law, Vickie L. & Tom Seifert of Dalton, & Cindy A. Heavilin and her fiancée Ronald Miller of Massillon; four grandchildren Steve Seifert, Tammi (Jamie) Kiko, Robert Heavilin Jr. & Rachelle (Brent) Herron and eight great grandchildren: Dustin, Kayla, Kyall, Kymbirlee, Darryn, Michael, Chase, & Connor. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home. The family would appreciate memorials to the Christopher Seifert Memorial Trust Fund (c/o First Merit Bank).
