Robert Green

Robert (Bob) Green, 98 of Navarre, went home to his Lord and Savior, Aug. 24 2021 surrounded by Family and Friends. He was born June 28, 1923 to the late Glen and Fern (Basset) Green in Port Smith, Pennsylvania. Bob and his siblings spent most of their time growing up in the Mountains of Carolina. He was a WWII veteran, a Tec 5Co. B 727 as an amphibian operator driver in, New Guinea, Southern Philippines, Luzon and Ground Combat Borneo; he transported troops from the Beach Head to the front lines. He was never afraid knowing God was always with him. Bob served from 1943-45. He received American Theater ribbon ,Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal with a Bronze Arrowhead, Victory Medial World War II, and a Lapel button was issued Motto "ARMS STANT LEGES" a long History goes along with this Pin. He joined his siblings and their Dad running heavy equipment, building roads From Ohio, PA, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina, Including the Blue Ridge Parkway. They would pull small trailers with their cars as road work would move. Bob was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, from there he joined the Coal miners and retired as a superintendent. Bob had many hobbies. He enjoyed gardening, lawn work riding 4 wheelers. Bob also built and repaired motor cycles, 4 wheelers and garden tractors. He also enjoyed selling and trading at Rodgers along the Ohio River. After returning from the war, Bob married his first Wife Grace (Weaver) Green. They lived in Winterville, Ohio 30 plus year’s. They had no children. Grace passed away while living there. He married His second wife Susan, and they lived there another 15 years. Their health was getting bad and they moved to Navarre Village Homes, in Navarre, where he lived close to his brother and sister-in- law. Bob loved his family and moving to Navarre made it easier for family to visit and help with care. Bob loved talking on the phone to family. His health started to fail in 2019, after Sue’s passing, The Veterans of Canton sent a care giver to help with his needs. Bobbie treated him with tender-loving care right up to his passing. One of his life’s achievements was to go on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. He was registered on the World War II Memorial web site on Oct 2009. He was honored with a brick in his honor placed at the World War II Memorial in Florida. Bob was proud of his service for the United States of America (By Land and by Sea). He is survived by his sibling's, Anny Hulvey and Betty Petty of Florida, Louie (June) Green of Navarre and Larry (Tina ) Green of Dover; sister- in- law, Sandy Grove of West Lafayette; and many nieces ,nephews, of which some helped in his care . In addition to his parents he was proceeded in Death by his first wife, Grace (Weaver) Green; second wife, Susan (Boyd) Green; brothers, Chester, Billy, Alvei, and Avery; and a sister, Louise Gordon. A grave side military services will be held at Mt Zion Cemetery in Coshocton at a later date. Evangelist, Pastor Ron Davis of Gospel Hill Ministry Warsaw will be officiating.
