Robert F. Mowrer, age 84 of Massillon, died on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at The Landing of Canton. He was born on January 21, 1925 in Wooster, Ohio and was the son of the late Floyd and Edith (Smith) Mowrer. He was a Massillon resident since 1951. Bob was a decorated veteran of World War II while serving in the U.S. Army. He received the Bronze Star, the Silver Star and was awarded a Purple Heart. He retired from Schwebel’s Bakery and then worked at Gordy Graybill’s for several years. Bob was a past president and lifetime member of the Massillon Lion’s Club and a member of the American Legion Post 221. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary H. Mowrer and his brothers Roger Mowrer and Richard Mowrer. He is survived by his daughter Carol Ann Mowrer, his brothers Welker Mowrer and Jim (Sara) Mowrer, his sisters, Donna (Charles) Ogi, LaVonne (Tom) Cox and Marjean (Rick) Meyers and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will take place on Monday at 1:30 at Wooster Cemetery with his friend Gene Lynch sharing memories. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home from 2-4 P.M. The Massillon Lions Club will hold a service at 1:30 on Sunday.
