Robert E. Steele

Robert Everett Steele, Sr., 78 of Massillon, died on Wednesday, August 18, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 11, 1937 in O'Keefe, WV and was the son of the late Harrison and Mary Belle (Moore) Steele. Mr. Steele was a former employee at the former Hess-Snyder Co. and Reo Industries, Inc. He retired from Groovfold Inc. in Newcomerstown. He was a member of the Massillon Church of Christ. Bob was an avid baseball fan and loved the New York Yankees. He also loved listening to Blue Grass music. His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, bowling and softball as well as woodworking and horseshoes. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas, John, Harry, Jr., Benny, Ermal and Crawford Steele and sisters Betty Baldwin, Mary Daniels, Lola Sonnhalter, Evelyn Ferrell and a grandson, Robby Adkins. He is survived by his wife, Ocie Faye (Ferrell) Steele, daughters, Norma Benanzer and Laura Valenti and his son, Robert E. Steele, Jr., 3 stepchildren, Janet Porter, Diane Stinespring and Jim Green, Jr., 6 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Steele's name to Massillon Church of Christ, 915 State St. NE, Massillon, OH 44646.
