Robert E. Solon

Robert E. Solon age 76, of Massillon, passed away Tuesday at Mercy Medical Center. Robert was born on January 14, 1931 in Wooster. He was a United States Army Veteran serving with the 101st Airborne. He retired from Roadway express as a loading dock supervisor. Robert was a member of the Massillon EAGLES FOE #190. He enjoyed reading, collecting coins, fishing and traveling. He is preceded in death by his mother, Adelma Solon and his beloved first wife, Dorothy Ann Solon to whom he was married to for 30 years. Robert was a dedicated family man who made his family feel blessed. He is survived by his wife, Wanda F. (Harper) Solon with whom he would have celebrated 24 years of marriage on November 16, 2007; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert B. (the late Marrianne) Solon of Lakewood, Dale J. (Eleanor) Solon of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Kevin J. (Trish) Solon of Brookpark, Patrick M. (Rebecca) Solon of Greenville, Ohio; step sons, James S. (Marsha Adams) Pry of Geneva, Ohio, Jeffrey D. Pry of Massillon; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly Ann (Robert) Moorman of Portland, Oregan, Susan M. (Juan) Hernandez of North Olmsted; grandchildren, Melissa Solon, Heather & Renee Seese, Sarah, Hillary and Jeffrey Moorman, Adam and Emily Hernandez, Colin, Kyle, Ryan, Patrick and Amanda Solon and Logan Pry; brother-in-law, Bobby Chadwick and good friend, Terry Barnhart. Funeral services celebrating Robert’s life will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Arnold – Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Edd Matako officiating. Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00 PM – 8:00PM and one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Interment will follow the services at Union Cemetery in Canal Fulton.
