Robert E. Palmer

Robert E. Palmer, age 72, of Massillon, passed away Saturday evening at the Mercy Medical Center. He was born in New Philadelphia on February 8, 1935 to the late Paul and Nellie (Meredith) Palmer. After Robert graduated from high school he joined the Army to serve our country. On May 5, 1956 Robert married the love of his life, Evelyn Hoffman. He worked at Massillon Surplus for 17 years where he was the assistant manager. Robert began working at Demmer Hardware which is where he retired from. Bob was an avid fisherman who truly enjoyed the outdoors. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Palmer. Survived by wife, Evelyn (Hoffman) Palmer of Massillon; two sons, Robert and Flo Palmer of Massillon, John and Bonnie Palmer of Massillon; two grandchildren, Vicki Palmer of Massillon, Natalie Hayman of Massillon; brother, George and Virginia Palmer of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Palmer of Maryland; and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service has been planned for Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
