Robert E. Clapper

October 17, 1935 — January 9, 2021

Robert E. Clapper, age 85, went home to be with the LORD on January 9, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19. He was born on October 17, 1935, to Harold Clapper who passed just months before Robert was born and Helen (Jim) Miller. He retired from Timken Steel after 41 years of service. Robert was a member of First Assembly of God in Massillon where he served in many positions as well as board member for 30 years. He loved antique cars and woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and most importantly his family and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father, his wife of 54 years Carol Jo (Webb) Clapper, sister Zella Lidderdale-Chisholm and step-sister Bonnie Cornelius. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Jeffrey (Amy) Clapper, Cindie (James) Kurzen, Edward Clapper; grandchildren Bradley (Ashley) Clapper, Brett (Amy) Clapper, Kristen (Brett) Loader, and Seth (Layne McKinley) Kurzen; and sister Debi Mullins. A private service will be held for family. A livestream will be available at Facebook Live Streaming on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 1pm. Final resting place will be at Newman Cemetery. Bob is finally reunited with his beloved wife Carol which is all he ever wanted. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s honor to either the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Danbury of Massillon. The family would like to thank the staff of the Danbury Memory Care and Elara Caring Hospice for all the wonderful care Bob received.
