Robert "Bob" W Bitzel

Robert “Bob” Bitzel, 60, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2022. He was born on in Canton on September 13, 1961, to William and Eva (Christoff) Bitzel, Jr. Bob was a proud 1979 graduate of Washington High School and a lifelong Massillon Booster Club member. His Tigers were his pride and joy. He worked at Midwestern Industries as a press brake operator for over 30+ years before retiring. Bob also proudly served his country for a brief time in the United States Navy. Bob was very involved in the community especially with sports. He was an OHSAA official for football and basketball and an umpire for not only Massillon little league, but also for ASA softball league. One of his favorite things to do was attend WWE wrestling matches with son Cory. The two of them would travel all over to watch their favorite wrestlers together. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 34 years, Cindy (Duell) Bitzel; his loving son Cory (Emily) Bitzel; his mother Eva Bitzel; sister Barbara Carlile; sister-in-law Pamela (John) McCutchan; nieces Breanna (Ryen) McCutchan, Dawn (John) Perry, Gabrielle Carlile, and Grace Carlile; nephew Zachary McCutchan; as well as 2 great-nieces. Bob was preceded in death by his dad, William Bitzel, Jr. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 22nd from 4-6 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to Massillon Little League, PO Box 1464, Massillon, Ohio 44648 or to Massillon Tiger Football Booster Club, PO Box 19, Massillon, Ohio 44648.
