Robert "Bob" L. Perkson

Robert "Bob"  L. Perkson, 87, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 19, 2024. He was born on November 26, 1936 to the late Fredrick and Hazel Perkson.

Bob was a 1954 graduate of Massillon Washington High School, where he was a member of the golf team. He was active in planning his class reunions, and enjoyed being emcee at their annual gatherings. In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army, and served for 4 years. Afterward, he started his career at Central States Can Company where he worked for many years, and retired as the Director of Purchasing from Sonoco Phoenix at the age of 73. He spent most of his life as a Massillon resident and was an avid Tiger fan, holding season tickets for a number of years. Bob volunteered his time as a Sideliner, youth sports coach and umpire, and Lion's Club member. He had great memories of being an endman in the Lion's Club Annual Minstrel Show. Bob worked as a caddy at Brookside Country Club, which fostered his love of golf throughout his life. He was passionate about doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, making people laugh and spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Cindi Perkson; sister, Judy; and beloved dog, Lexi.

Bob is survived by his sister, Sandy Fraga; special friend Sue Jamison; children, Carrie (Corky) Affolter, Christine (Ken) Bucholtz, Stefanie Fulton, Jessica Perkson, and Rocky Perkson; grandchildren, Erica (Jay) Gross, Julian (Kathryn) Christian ,Gabrielle Christian, Kate Turner, Janelle (Brad) Mowery, Jon Bucholtz, Brandi (Jordon) Smith, Sydney Rice, Bryce Hitchcock, Elise Hitchcock-Perkson, and Vayda Perkson; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Paquelet Funeral Home. An additional two hours of visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, August 30, 2024 with a funeral service following at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place on a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory can be made to the Massillon Tiger Football Booster Club, or the Massillon Lion's Club.
