Robert “Bob” E. Keefer, 85, of North Canton, passed away at his home on January 7, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 22, 1935 in Binghamton, New York to the late John and Cleo (Zwick) Keefer. Bob was preceded in death by his two brothers Norman and Phillip Keefer and son-in-law Edward Knecht. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant for four years. Bob worked for Church Insurance Agency for most of his career and was also a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Massillon. He had 3 greatest passions in life: family, sports and food. Bob was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. His time spent with his family was something he always treasured. In his younger years, Bob tried out for the Yankees Minor League team and always had a love for the New York Yankees and baseball that never diminished. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan too and proud of it. And to sum up his love for food, a good friend of Bob’s coined the phrase, “Bob never met a cookie he didn’t like.” He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Vera Ehrhardt; children Robert Keefer, Debra Knecht, Laura (Rory) Mayer, Linda (Rusty) Allen, Julie Eder, and Eric Keefer; former spouse Phyllis Keefer; sister Betty Willoughby; grandchildren Chad Keefer, Michael (Kim) Keefer, Jimmy (Angela) Keefer, Brittany (Patrick) Helms, Heather (Nick) Mikunas, Ryan Mayer, Ashley (Michael) Watts, Holly (Jamie) Brown, Jesse Allen, Jamie Allen, Cody Eder, Meghan (Jon) Patch, Hudson Keefer and Dylan Keefer; loving, great-grandchildren Chad Jr., Chase, Cadence, Collin, Kelsey, Conner, Zoey, Kennedy, Finley, Nicholas, Harper, Hope and Nixon; great-great-grandson Chase, Jr. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 127 Cherry Rd NE, Massillon, OH 44646 from 2 pm to 3pm. A private family service will be held due to COVID-19.
