Rita May Hostetler age 81, of North Lawrence, died on Monday, July 18, 2022 at her home in North Lawrence after a lengthy illness. Rita was born on December 17, 1940 to William and Anna (Burger) Ruegg. She graduated from Washington High School in 1958. She attended the University of Akron and was a second grade teacher at St. Barbara's Catholic School. She married Maynard "Butch" Hostetler on December 29, 1962 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church. After starting her family, she was a homemaker and very talented seamstress. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her faith and family were most important to her. She loved hosting her large family for the holidays. She was a faithful lifelong member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, her parents and brother, Eugene Ruegg. She is survived by children, Heidi (Joe) Rachel, Connie (Scott) Tissot, Holly (Todd) Freidly, Curt (Wendy) Hostetler, Amy (Rich) Bossler, Ann (Todd) Pratt, Danny Hostetler ( Elizabeth Nescola) Heather (Jimmy) Dull; 4 sisters, Marie Ries, Martha Fox, Sr. Marie Ruegg and Linda Friedman; 2 brothers, Raymond Ruegg and Albert Ruegg; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held with The Very Reverend Canon Matthew “Maciej” Mankowski D. Min., officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Barbara's Catholic Church or Aultman Hospice.
