Rita M. Himes

Rita M. Himes, age 85 of Massillon passed away Saturday at Legends Care Center surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. Rita was born March 25, 1928 in East Greenville to the late John & Celesta (Hartman) Jordan. Her friends will remember her for a love of playing cards and bingo. Family will remember her kindness and being supportive of all their activities. She loved family gatherings, never one to miss a birthday or special events. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters; Mildred Kula and Velma Evans. Rita is survived by her husband of 65 years, Everett Himes and their three children: Sally (David Vince) Stang, Sandy (Randy) Kiefer and Terry (Deloris Turner) Himes and Ramie Burr, whom she raised from childhood and considered one of her own. There are five grandchildren: Amy (Michael) Dugan, Chad (Julie) Kula, Karey (Thomas) Ross, Corey (Dana) Kiefer and Trever Himes. There are thirteen great grandchildren: Chad Jr., Tyler, Connor, Lily, Trinity, Emily, Evan, Ryan, Olivia, Connor, Kyle, Camryn and Caden. And several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday at St. Barbara Catholic Church, her pastor Fr. Thomas Cebula will officiate. Burial will be at St. Barbara's Cemetery.
