Rita C. Schauer

Rita C. Schauer, 94 of Navarre, died at home on Monday, May 12, 2014 following a period of declining health. Born in Navarre on February 3, 1920 to John and Pauline (Mitzel) Mummertz. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Virgil Schauer in 1998; sisters, Doris Mummertz, Jeannette Kraus and brother, John Mummertz. Rita is survived by daughters, Rebecca (Larry Hickman) Gilbert of Navarre Cynthia (Carl) Alexander of Jackson Township; son, Larry Schauer of Colorado; daughter-in-law, Gail Schauer of Texas; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren; a sister, Lela Mummertz; brother, Leo Mummertz and special niece and nephew, Lorraine and Jeff Kraus of Navarre. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Clements (Holy Family Parish) Navarre with Father Michael Seifert, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clement Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives at a luncheon in the church hall following the burial. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Family Parish for mass intentions in Rita's name.
