August 9, 1926 — June 29, 2010

Richard Lee Widing, age 83, of Massillon passed away Tuesday June 29, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Massillon August 9, 1926 the son of the late Henry and Gertrude (Bartz) Widing. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army serving during W.W. II., and was a life member of the Massillon American Legion Post #221 and V.F.W Post # 3124. He worked for Eaton Corp. for 34 years retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, and in younger years enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Richard married Shirley (Stoner) February 27, 1960 and just celebrated 50 years of marriage. She survives along with children David (Denise) Widing of Massillon, Mark Widing of Greenville, SC, and Diane Hyams of Powell, OH; grandchildren Andrew and Christopher Widing. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother Donald Widing. Funeral services will be Friday July 2nd at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Pastor Mark Oster will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions in Richards name may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Tuscarawas, Stark, and Carroll Hospice. Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
