Richard “Rick” L. Maxhimer, 68, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 7, 2020. He was born in Massillon on April 19, 1952 to the late Harold and Helen (Neal) Maxhimer. Rick was a 1970 graduate of Washington High School and a proud Tiger football player. Upon graduation, Rick was rated as one of the top machinist in Stark County. A few years later, Rick tried out as the punter for the Washington Redskins. He held several jobs throughout his life, but most enjoyed working at Brookside County Club as the head of maintenance as well as working with his cousin at Neal Refrigeration. Rick was a very talented and skilled handyman. He could take apart almost anything and rebuild it with no issues. When he wasn’t perfecting his trade skills, Rick loved listening to classic rock and roll and riding his motorcycle. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Sherry Patrick, Jan (Doug) Miller and Russell “Rusty” (Wilma) Maxhimer; nieces and nephews Darron Maxhimer, Heather (Jim) Peters, Megan (Josh) Blake, Aaron (fiancé Stacey Hatchell) Miller, Nicole Maxhimer and Emily Maxhimer; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother Terry Maxhimer. At this time, no services are planned but messages of support and sympathy may be left at www.paquelet.com
