Richard “Rick” E. Engler, Jr., 67, of Massillon, passed away on November 25, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dover on May 27, 1954 to the late Richard E. and Shirley A. (Knisely) Engler, Sr. In addition to his biological parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother Jeff Engler. He will be deeply missed by his wife Nora Jane “Janie”; parents William Gotchall and Carol Engler; children Kelly Engler, Stacy (Dan) Bray, Thomas (Brittany) Engler and Toni Musick; sisters Tammy (Craig Sherrard) Norris and Tammi (Dennis) McKinney; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Rick worked and retired from Republic Steel after many years of service. He was a very proud member of the NRA and a huge supporter of guns. Rick was so passionate about his guns that he would actually build them from scratch. He also was an enthusiast of knives. Rick spent 20 years living out in the country where he could shoot his guns anytime he liked but once he moved to the city, he did enjoy going to the gun ranges. If he wasn’t working on guns or shooting guns, you could find him at local gun shows which he attended often. Although he loved his guns, Rick did have a soft side. He was a devoted husband to his wife Janie for 30 years as well as a loving father and grandfather. He would also include Maggie Mae as family who was his beloved beagle. The family will hold their own celebration of Rick’s life on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at Kiwanis Park on Oak Ave. in Massillon. “Let’s Go Brandon!!”
