Richard P. Dalman

January 13, 1935 — February 18, 2022

Richard P. Dalman, 87, owner of Details Detail’s, a local Automobile restoration company and Diebold retiree, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 18, 2022 after a lengthy illness. Though his time was shortened, he was passionate and loving to the end. He was born January 13, 1935 in Michigan City, Indiana to Peter and Margaret (Cullerton) Dalman and later moved to Massillon, Ohio. Rick was well known for his attention to “detail” having artistically painted “woodgrain” artwork inside antique automobiles and eventually turned his passion and hobby into a lifelong career called Details Detail’s. Here, he galvanized his expertise in the art of antique automobile restoration. He also was known for his buffing and waxing of vehicles using nothing but his trusty rotary buffer. Rick was a staple at AACA Hershey Pennsylvania car meet every year and further developed his connections with folks in the automobile industry from near and far. Rick helped to start the Cops and Rodder’s car show in Jackson Township and was also a mainstay at the Arby’s Cruise-in in North Canton, found in one of his many antique cars, cracking a smirk in maybe his 1964 Chevy Impala 409 police car, a 1929 “Jed Clampett” pickup, or taking one of a couple of replica go-karts to display, including a Corvair Monza GT. Rick was also a longtime judge at the annual Stan Hywet’s Father’s Day Carshow for over 30 years, rightfully judging early corvettes. Rick was instrumental in the car scene throughout the 90’s to 2010’s, a key founder and later event director for the Glenmoor Gathering Concourse of Significant Automobiles in Canton, Ohio for its first 11 of 18 years of presence on the hallowed grounds of Glenmoor Country Club. Rick was also the curator of the 1920 Hupmobile, regularly driving it in the yearly National Football League Hall of Fame parade in Canton, Ohio amongst other high-profile events. Rick enjoyed playing with his twin grandchildren, Mackensie and Isabella, and enjoyed listening to the many stories of his grandchildren: Niko, Chris, Sara, and Zac and was elated with every success they shared with him. He also loved to play with Max(imus), his son’s dog. Rick is survived by his wife Melody of 42 years, his daughter Kim Dalman and her partner Steve, daughter Kerri and her husband Mike Foote, and their children Zac and Sara, his son Jeff and wife Charla Dalman, and their children Chris and Niko, and his son Mark Dalman and fiancé Jill Schoonover and their children Mackensie, Isabella, and Lucas. A service for Rick will be held on March 5th at 12 pm visitation will be an hour prior for his friends and family to pay their respects at Paquelet-Arnold Funeral Home in Massillon Ohio.
