Richard M. “Dickey” Vittling, age 55 of Jackson Township passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 6, 1955 in Massillon the son of the late John and Christina (Yelic) Vittling. Richard lived in the area his entire life. He was a truck driver at Speicher Trucking before he became ill. Dick was a 1975 graduate of Jackson High School. He enjoyed riding his Harley’s, vacationing on St. Thomas Island, watching NASCAR with the ‘NASCAR’ boys and fishing. He was also a member of AMVETS Post 12. He is survived by his wife Lori (Johnson) Vittling with whom he shared 26 years of his life; his children, Ashley Vittling, and Justin Vittling both of Canton, Angela (John) Lavis of Portage Lakes and Stacy Scott of Canton South; his grandchildren, Cori, Cody, Colton and Maria; his brother Jon Vittling of Atwood and his sister Nancy Groom of Florida; several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 1-4 PM at AMVETS Post 12 located on Earl Road in Massillon. Cremation has taken place.
