Richard L. Shaffer

Richard L. Shaffer, age 85 passed away on December 25, 2016. He was born in Canton on June 03, 1931 to the late Grant and Margaret Shaffer. He was a 1949 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He married Janet A. Peddicord on September 26, 1954 and they shared 62 years together. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Timken for 34 years until his retirement. He enjoyed trailering at Myrtle Beach, Golfing, Bowling, having Parties, and playing cards. Richard enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Janet A. Shaffer; his children Rick (Anne) Shaffer and Pam (Jim) Gault; his grandchildren Tim (Faith) Young, Maggie (Nate) Kelly, Kellie (Alex) Colaner and Jennifer (Scott) Lindsay; his great grandchildren Alexander and Katherine Edmonds, Nathaniel, Jonathan, Mackenzie Young and Roxie and Ben Colaner. In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in death by his brother Robert G. Shaffer. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 6-8p.m and 1 hour prior to the service.
