Richard L. Benson, age 73 of Bolivar, passed away suddenly on March 04, 2018. He was born on July 31, 1944 to the late Robert and Ruth (Mercer) Benson in Massillon. He was a 1963 graduate of Tuslaw High School. He married Linda on September 16, 2000 and she survives. Richard worked for 45 years at Republic Steel until his retirement in 2009. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, boating and fishing at Atwood Campground. Richard also had an artistic side and created works of art welding scrap metal. Richard always looked forward going to the National Tractor Pulls in Bowling Green, Ohio every year with his family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #554, The Sons and Daughters of Herman and a former member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. The most important thing about Richard was that he was a devoted family man, who would help anyone in need and never met a person he didn’t like. Richard is survived by his wife Linda; his children Becky (Tim) Tucker, Robin (John) Dunn, Ed (Debbie) Benson, and Matt (Stacy) Benson; his stepchildren Kathy (Jeff) Jordan and Brian (Kristie) Cramer; his grandchildren TJ (Nicole) King, Tyler King, Jonah Dunn, Hannah Dunn, Oliver Benson, Mackenzie Butts, Kendel Hinojosa, Lindsey Franco, Barbara Jordan, William Jordan, August Cramer, Avery Cramer; his great-grandchildren Nadalie King, Tristen King and Taden King; his brothers Dave (Joyce) Benson, Robert (Patsy) Benson, John (Debbie) Benson; his sister Deborah (Chris) Yoder, his foster children and foreign exchange students who he took care of through the years as well as a host of family and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Benson and his sister Suzie Snyder. In accordance with Richard’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of life will be held at the Knights of Columbus #554 in Massillon on Saturday, April 07, 2018 from 2-5P.M. www.paquelet.com
