Richard Flores

Richard (Dick) Flores passed away on Tuesday, December 20th at Hospitality House after an extended illness. Dick was born the youngest of three in Universal, PA on March 5, 1934 to John and Mary (Scaramucci) Flores. Dick grew up in the Massillon school system and graduated from WHS in 1952. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Germany for 2 years. He also attended Kent State University. He worked in sales at Republic Steel/Union Drawn for 32 years and retired from Gregory Galvanizing after 14 years. He served on the Board of Directors at the Massillon Industrial Federal Credit Union and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. An avid sports fan, Dick was a life-long supporter of the Massillon Tigers and held season tickets for over four decades. He played softball for many years and in 1978 won the WHBC Top Softball Player of Stark County. He had a passion for golf that he passed on to his son and grandson and played whenever possible. His greatest achievements were his kindness, his frequently-displayed sense of humor and his love and dedication to his family. He is survived by his wife, Jean Winter Flores of the residence; daughter, Debra Flores of Chicago, IL; sons, David Flores and Scott (Alissa) Flores both of Columbus; two grandchildren, Jack & Ella; sisters, Lorraine (Flores) Burns, Dolores (Flores) Stephan. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with Pastor Larry Lalama officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
