Richard E. Long

Richard E. Long, 84, passed away after years of declining health. He was born in Jackson Township, Ohio on March 27, 1927 to the late Walter R. & Marie Kelley Long. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Richard worked as a District Supervisor for East Ohio Gas for 42 years. Richard was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former member of the Eagles Club and Sons of Herman. He enjoyed wood working, traveling and gardening. He is survived by: his wife, Gloria E. Evans Long, whom he married on Oct 21, 1950; three daughters, Kathy McNamara of Massillon, Karen & Thomas Clark of Green, Kelly & Alan Climer of Massillon; two sons, Kevin Long of Massillon, Kris & Jennifer Long of Perry Township; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Long and sister, Norma Selzer. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00AM at the funeral home, Fr. Ed Gretchko presiding. Burial will be private at the South Lawn Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Meadow Winds Nursing Center and Senior Independence Hospice for their support.
