Richard E. Kirkland

Richard E. Kirkland, 89 passed away on July 25, 2024, from natural causes. He was born in Massillon, Ohio on May 30, 1935, to the late Eddie and Emma (Feagin) Kirkland.

Richard worked for many years at Hercules Engines and was an accomplished jazz musician that played all over Ohio and the surrounding states. He also opened his home to become a foster parent to several children.

He is survived by his ex-wives Ella R. Kirkland and Mary D. Kirkland, children Devray (Nicky) Kirkland, Chase (companion Destinee Barnes)Kirkland, and Stepdaughter Tamara Moss, 6 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his siblings Mattie Long, Bertha Miller, Willa Brown, Eddie, Seaser, Freddie, John, and Lucius Kirkland.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 13. Visitation will start at 10:30am, with a program starting at 12:00 noon at the Paquelet Funeral Home and Crematory in Massillon, Ohio. Bishop G.L Evans II officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
